Latest news from the Reality Shock camp:
After much deliberation from the judges, the results of Reggae Got Talent 2009 are finally in!!
It really was an impossible decision for the judges to make, as the entries we recieved were of a very high quality, all great ideas & well produced/delivered. Its clear that a many people have spent a lot of time & energy on this project, which we truely appriciate & as such we feel a responsibility to each & everyone who entered. We will do our best to get everyone heard.
WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL PARTICIPANTS TO LINK UP WITH ONE ANOTHER!!
Now we are in a unique position to have so many vocals & remixes from all over the world..& of course they are all the same BPM & key.. every artist who entered has over 100 potential remixes, all it takes is to put their accapella on top of any version, with the permission of the producer. Likewise producers could link artists for their accapellas & create a riddim series. By collaborating in this fashion, you can make some great connections & get your music heard in different countries & continents. If you add yourself as a friend to www.myspace.com/reggaegottalent, you will find many of the participants in the friends list. If you need help to contact a specific artist or producer then please don’t hesitate to contact us & we will do our best to put you in touch. Remember reggae music is a mission & only in unity will we find strength!
Having said that, somebody had to win the prizes.. as far as the judging process went, we tried to be as fair & scientific as possible. The judges recieved the entries anonymously & independantly, so there was no conferring between judges & the entires were judged by the music alone (without taking in to account the artists background or experience). Each member of the judging panel then picked their top 4 & a points system was used to calculate the overall winners. Despite our best efforts, we fully recognise that there is no possible way of objectively judging music. Ultimately it comes down to the personal preferences of the judging panel, all of whom commented that they had great difficulty in choosing a top 4. In the end the results stand as follows:

A word from the Jugdes:
Earl 16: “I am very respectful of the amount of great talent and enthusiastic people out there who love and practice Reggae music..It’s hard times now for up and coming artists and producers as the music business is so competitive, so give thanks for the ones who made it to the finals of this competition..good luck to everyone involved and never give up your dreams. One Love and Jah Bless.”
Afrikan Simba “I was very impressed with all the work submitted by both artists & producers. Each contestant showed competance, skill & had something unique to offer. Those I chose were the ones that I feel had that something little different that stood out to my ears. I would like to encourage all contestants to continue what they are doing because theyre all bright & shining stars.”
We would like to thank everyone involved once again, for the amazing response & the huge amount of time, energy & love that everyone put it, To all the artists, producers & djs who contributed to make this competition possible & to the many websites & radios who helped to spread the word across the globe. We were particularly impressed by the response from the Russian reggae community who dazzled us with an array of talent. Big respect to all at www.reggae-vibes.ru! We hope to be back next year with a new competition, more sponsors, better prizes etc. we have learned some lessons & will be more organised next time! Until then, stay blessed & keep the music alive!!
